CLE is the primary commercial airport for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio and is currently Ohio’s busiest airport. It also sits within roughly 500 miles of nearly half of the U.S. population, giving Cleveland a strong geographic position for both business and leisure travel. 

Interesting CLE facts

• CLE handled just over 10 million passengers in 2025. 
• It currently has 10 passenger airlines and more than 130 daily departures during peak scheduling periods. 
• Cleveland Hopkins became the first U.S. airport directly connected to a rapid-transit rail system when the connection opened in 1968. 
• The airport is undergoing a major long-term modernization program called CLEvolution, aimed at upgrading the terminal and passenger experience. 
• International traffic has recently been growing faster than domestic traffic. Through July 2026, international passenger volume was up about 11% year over year, while overall traffic was essentially flat.
