• The Dallas Cowboys were originally known as the Dallas Steers. The name was quickly changed, however, when the team’s general manager decided he didn’t want a castrated mascot.
• The world’s first frozen margarita machine was invented in Dallas 1971 by restaurateur Mariano Martinez.
• The State Fair of Texas has been held in Dallas every year since 1886 with five exceptions. In 1918 the fair was cancelled on account of WWI, and between 1942-1945 due to World War II.
