• Don't be confused - Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are NOT the same thing.  Just let any of the locals tell you!
• Few people outside the state knew about this area until Hurricane Frederic in 1979, which after much destruction actually contributed to its rebirth as a tourist destination.
• Seafood is kind of a big deal.  Christmas dinner down here may just include fresh oysters, oyster gumbo, fried oysters, and baked chicken with oyster dressing.
